FASHION/PERSONAL STYLE: Fur, Faux, Foe

I took a little trip to fairytale land over Christmas, also known as Prague in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately it wasn’t destined to be a white Christmas but none the less I was prepared for cold weather and suitably layered up. Inspired by the guards at the Royal Palace, and by the copious amounts of fur seen on the Prague streets, I put together this winter outfit with fur details. The statement of my outfit is my new Zara coat, just classically beautiful with a really flattering cut and funky gold buttons and zip pockets. I’ve teamed this with a faux fur collar from Primark, a vintage red bag and brown studded boots from Forever 21. For my birthday in December my parents sent me some beautiful New Zealand merino wool gloves with possum fur trim which have had mixed reactions from my friends. I’m neutral when it comes to real fur, not minding vintage pieces or fur from pests. Coming from New Zealand I’m aware that possums are a terrible pest that pose a serious threat to endangered bird species in our country, but for some of my foreign friends possums are cute, furry and innocent. What do think about fur – real, faux or a mix of both?

  1. After htniitg the shops this season after a multi-year hiatus, I was struck by: Lots of big knits, lots of ruffles and flowers, the lack of everyday dresses, how few structured jackets there were, how few woven fabrics I found compared to knits, and how the ladies suit has moved entirely to Business/Dressy.

  2. This is really interesting, You are a very skilled blogger. I’ve joined your feed and look forward to seeking more of your magnificent post. Also, I’ve shared your website in my social networks!
