Somerset House is currently showing an exhibition devoted to one of the original “It” girls – Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!
A former assistant to Anna Wintour’s at US Vogue, fashion editor at Tatler, stylist at British Vogue, Fashion Director of the Sunday Times Style, Isabella Blow was known for her eccentricities and eye for talent.
The exhibition showcases over a hundred pieces from her wardrobe, which are now owned by Daphne Guinness. This includes garments from the many designer talents she discovered and launched, such as Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy, Hussein Chalayan and Julien Macdonald amongst others.
The exhibit, particularly the hats, are exquisite, however the information on Blow’s life seems a bit disjointed, and seems to skip from a detailed description of childhood straight into adulthood with little to no comment on the teenage years.
Visually, a must see!
Ooooooo I really wanted to go to this so reading your feature has been really interesting thanks for sharing!!! xx
