FASHION: LFW AW14/15 Diary Day One

Dear Diary…It’s that time again… Catwalk season! London Fashion Week got off to a wet and windy start yesterday leaving fashionistas drenched and windswept at Somerset House. I was there with a warm scarf and an umbrella, but there were other girls bare legged and jacket less proving their true dedication to style. This is my 5th LFW! (Getting old) and I was feeling a little cynical. Luckily the beautiful bright Bora Aksu collection distracted me from the weather. This is the second collection I’ve seen at LFW from the Turkish designer and I love the mixing of textures and playful colours that are clearly a signature. Heidi style braids for the models tapped into the hottest hair style trend of the season. In comparison Eudon Choi’s show was rather subdued. Heritage prints, tailoring twists and hunting style outfits were given a pop of colour with bright retro shoes and a some funky fuzzy trousers in bright orange and pink. The Mark Fast show was “star studded” to use the cliche, with Eliza Doolittle, Amber Le Bon and Peaches Geldof FROW. As always it’s so fun to see Mark’s collections and know that there’s bright, experimental knitwear on the horizon to brighten up a miserable winter. loose plaits were seen again on the models as a grunge alternative to the folk style at Bora Aksu. I popped into the designer showrooms as well and met Japanese designer Marumasu who designed the funky 3D scarf as seen below on the designer himself. I skipped the evening events to celebrate Valentine’s Day at Lounge Lover with cocktails and macaroons. It’s making an early start on Day Two a little more difficult, but stay tuned for more antics and more about the Designer Showrooms as the weekend progresses. .
